David Robinson, CFP®
David has been a wealth manager since 1995, helping individuals reach their financial goals, achieve financial security and plan for retirement.
As a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER®, David takes a holistic approach to serving clients, providing advice and financial plans in which integral parts—including investment management, defensive tax planning, insurance solutions and estate planning—work together smoothly.
A recognized thought leader among wealth managers, David has authored numerous articles on wealth management topics, including equity portfolios, fixed-income investing, asset allocation, asset preservation, trusts and charitable giving. These articles have been published on prestigious, high-traffic websites, including CNBC.com, Investopedia.com, Nasdaq.com, NextAvenue.com and MDmag.com.
David serves a diverse national clientele that includes individuals still working and couples in or nearing retirement. His clients include those in their peak earning years, and represent a wide range of professions, including corporate executives, physicians, professional athletes and others. As different clients have different goals and circumstances, David works diligently to craft and maintain custom financial plans to meet their individual needs.
All of his clients have something in common: success in achieving their professional and business goals, and a desire to see the fruits of that success developed into long-lasting wealth to assure a comfortable retirement and provide legacies for their children. They derive peace of mind from having in place a sound wealth management plan to realize monthly income, reduce taxes and assure financial security—a pathway to an enjoyable retirement.
David founded RTS in 2000. From the firm’s inception, he dedicated it to helping successful individuals grow and manage their wealth to achieve major life goals. He acts as a personal Chief Financial Officer for families with significant assets.
With experience managing client portfolios through two recent bear markets (2000-2002 and 2008-2009), David and his team have developed highly effective strategies for hedging risk and generating returns for clients in any kind of market environment. In the pandemic-related market decline in March 2020, for example, RTS was extremely successful at managing downside volatility, having created resilient, globally diversified portfolios. Thus, the firm’s clients avoided significant losses.
As RTS Private Wealth Management is an independent advisory firm registered with the Securities & Exchange Commission, it’s required to act as a fiduciary—meaning that advisors must avoid even the appearance of a conflict of interest. Accordingly, in dispensing advice and guidance, the firm is required to always act in the best interest of clients, putting their interests ahead of the firm’s. As a fiduciary advisor, David is steadfastly focused on all clients’ best interests.
David holds a BA from DePaul University in Chicago, where he attended as a scholarship student, and did advanced study at Boston University for his certification as a CFP®. He is a longstanding member of the Financial Planning Association.
In his personal life, David has a long record of community service. He is past co-chairman of Money Smart Kids of Arizona, a nonprofit organization that helps parents and their children make more informed financial choices. And he served for 10 years as a financial instructor for engaged couples under the auspices of the Franciscan Renewal Center in the Phoenix Diocese. In addition, he has served as a member of the Finance Council at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Phoenix and as a board member of Catholic Charities of Phoenix. David and his wife, Libby, have three children—Luke, Nathanael and Josephine.
